Notes from the Fleet Captain….Bill Clyde

            #1   March 2019

Welcome back returning slip holders.  We are well on our way to completing all slip rental contracts for 2019.  With a few 2018 slip holders selling their boats or moving from the area, we are likely to have a small number of 30 and 40 slips available for rent this year.  Of course, regular club members have first choice for vacant slips.  If you have been forced to keep you boat in another location and would like to join us here, please let the Fleet Captain or our Club Manager know of you slip needs.

We expect to soon see boats returning to their slips, weather depending, and we expect to have water to the docks turned on before the end of this month.  The dock committee has surveyed the docks and slips and we believe we have an accurate list of the current maintenance issues needing to be addressed.  Please contact the Fleet Captain with any concerns/maintenance issues, etc. you may have.

We will be having a Docks Work Day, in April (date TBD by weather) and we look forward to support from slip holders and members.  Look for the date in next month’s CYC Newsletter.

Vessel Safety Checks: The US Power Squadron, in conjunction with the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, conduct courtesy, free, non-punitive Vessel Safety Checks for sail and power boats in or out of the water.  CYC will host Vessel Safety Checks for members and the general public, in the water or in our parking lot on Saturday, May 25, 9:00a – 12:00p.  Boat owners who would like to review a list of the items to be inspected can do so at www.safetyseal.net.  Please remember, this is a courtesy inspection and there is no punitive action taken, you just don’t earn the Inspection Decal until all items pass inspection.  Having the inspection Decal on your boat can make an on the water visit by the USCG or DNR a much more pleasant experience. ?
